I was reading a post earlier today on a raw food blog about someone who is discovering that being a raw food radical doesn’t really fit their personality anymore. I was reminded of this wonderful old saying from Confucious:
“The noble-minded are all-encompassing, not stuck in doctrines. Little people are stuck in doctrines“. (Analects 2.14)
What a nice thing to remember as we go through our lives. An alternative take on this, I recall, was posted on my mother’s refrigerator for years:
“The mind is like a parachute. It only works if it’s open.”
